Well, everyone has their own hang-ups about something. And hang-ups sure can make you a nasty person sometimes. I should know. I myself am a nasty person.

Anyway, announcement time:
TOMORROW is the 17th anniversary of FFIX's release to the US! I am once again ill-prepared, but at the very least I can say-- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, FFIX! I don't usually post non-comic pages into my comics because I believe it ruins the flow, so don't expect an extra Special Update there. But if you follow me on my Mastodon, Twitter, or Tumblr accounts you might get to see something awesome!
(BONUS: I may or may not finish working on a little extra page for this comic).

Also, I fixed page 8 of this chapter and I'm going forward with fixing other pages for the previous chapter, too. Once I'm done with all the do-overs and fixes for chapter 1 I'm gonna begin posting on a mirror. The one setback of comicfury is that it goes down every now and then, and that affects ALL webcomics hosted by it. So... The only soft-fix for that is to mirror my stuff elsewhere.

Announcements done, happy birthday ffix, enjoy the page, yadda yadda. I'm hungry. Bye.

So... it's pathetic to love your family? That kid sure has issues, but we knew that.

Ah, well he wasn't dissing Enkido. He is friends with Enkido, after all. Having so many siblings, he probably values family over all else-- but he appears to have opinions about family member roles.

His problem is with Jack(ahem-- Gil, I mean) who is Enkido's elder brother and yet is the timid, anxious, broken one, dependent on his younger brother to make friends and overcome his fears and bullying issues. There is a stigma about sibling roles that denies elder siblings the right to be helpless before their counterparts. Because, after all, they are supposed to be the ones the younger siblings look up to or even fear. Right? ...Right?

Yeah I don't buy it either.

But from there I intend on leaving it ambiguous. The rest of Bret's reasoning is to be deciphered manually. He definitely does seem to have issues lol
